Hi all! I start this 2022 writing for the first time for you here…
Today I wanted to share with you some of my learnings in the world of beauty, after having tried various brands and types of products over the years.
In addition, I leave you with my beauty routine, which I religiously follow every morning and night, accompanied by conscious product options, so that it is easy to start this new year taking care of our skin.
The skin gives signals, which we must attend
In this article we focus on the skin of our face, but the body in general constantly gives signals. Such as new moles, lumps that can be felt and are strange, reactions of the intestine to certain foods or even palpitations or throbbing in the eye due to stress. When the body speaks, you have to pay attention.
Try natural solutions before investing in expensive products or pills
It is important to pay attention to hydration, good rest, daily movement of the body, eating a diet rich in fruits and vegetables, reducing stimulants such as coffee or alcohol, and above all, wearing a healthy style. of a more conscious life, that allows us to enjoy the present and not be regretting the past or longing for the future.
As I told you, I have tried many of the products offered by the market, as well as brands from various countries and price ranges. Laboratory, pharmacy, cosmetic… My recommendation is that they seek medical advice and then carry out their own trial and error system. Give the product some time to take effect, but it will not necessarily be the right one for your skin. In addition, each product should have a purpose, be it cleaning, moisturizing, treating, protecting.
Avoid formulas that contain perfumes, parabens, dimethicone, phthalates, among others, and look for formulas with natural ingredients
Basically, let’s avoid those hard-to-read ingredients. Instead, let’s look for those that contain natural ingredients like essential oils. These are powerful concentrations of ingredients with huge benefits. Like tea tree oil, which dries out pimples. I could also mention hot springs or vegetable oils to create masks and moisturize.
Touch your face as little as possible
This is probably the only Kim Kardashian quote I’ll ever make, but I read it in an article and it made a lot of sense to me. Not only did he refer to not touching the pimples but also not to rest his hands on his face to avoid contaminating the skin or transferring infections.
Do the proper research
Before buying any product, I usually read about its ingredients, benefits, references, I consult acquaintances, a dermatologist… It is even very important to read about its best application method. We may be wasting it completely by not knowing how to use it. Once purchased, I usually always read the prospects, since they have the information to apply it in the most effective way.
Choose ethical products
Not long ago I understood that buying a product means giving a nod to the company and brand that produces it. It is important that we give money to those companies that take care of our planet, to their workers and to customers throughout the production chain.
Your skin will have different needs according to your lifestyle, the time of year, your age, etc.
The skin is an organ that constantly renews itself and matures over time. That means that we will have to accompany her, adapting our routines and being attentive to her needs.
Skincare does not distinguish men and women
I have many important men in my life and I constantly encourage them to take care of their skin. Many times they believe that it is unnecessary, that it is a women’s thing, but no. It’s everyone’s thing.
Now yes, below, I share my 2022 beauty guide, so that you start the year with splendid skin. In addition, some product and brand recommendations to simplify its implementation.
Step 1: Cleansing
Cleansers come in various forms: gel, foam, lotion, or oil. Today, I choose an oil cleanser, super gentle on my skin and with natural ingredients. I apply it with gentle massages and then clean it with cold/lukewarm water to wake up the skin without causing such a big temperature shock.

Step 2: Toner
The toner serves to even out the skin tone. I apply it in two possible ways: by spraying it on the face or pressing it with a cotton pad (reusable) on the T-zone of the face, avoiding the eye and mouth contours, which are more sensitive areas.

Step 3: Serum
The serum has very clear treatment objectives, which depend on the active ingredient that predominates in it. For example, it can act as a deep moisturizer, as an anti-aging if it contains hyaluronic acid, or to provide luminosity as a Vitamin C serum would.
Serums are always applied before any cream since their molecules are heavier and penetrate more easily. Being a more concentrated product, less quantity is needed than that of a moisturizing cream.
I recommend using one serum during the day and one at night, as many formulas work best at a particular time of day.

Step 4: Hydration
Hydration should start from within, by drinking plenty of water throughout the day. And if it is a moisturizing product, they may have to adapt it throughout the seasons, choosing lighter formulas during the summer, since the skin perspires, and heavier during the winter months, such as a moisturizing oil. .
The oils penetrate the skin super well and will deeply hydrate it. I would say that they are the latest trend in skin care, since before it was believed that they left the skin very oily, but no. They work, according to theory, on all skin types. I recommend that you try it.
Whenever you apply a serum or cream, remember that the massage should be from the inside out and from the bottom up, to stimulate circulation. You can take advantage of this moment to massage with a gua sha tool.

Step 5: Eye Contour
This is a moisturizing product too, of which you need to apply very little and very gently around the eye area. Punctually on the eyecup, the eyelid and the bone below the eyebrow. The massage should be gentle, from the inside out, with the ring finger, the one with the least pressure force.

Step 6: Lip Balm
Lip balm is a product that we should not abuse, so as not to get the skin used to not producing its own hydration. There are a thousand versions of it, including some to apply at night as a treatment mask. You can create your own homemade lip balm, from some vegetable oil such as olive, coconut or almond. Here, the recipe that María has shared on the Less&Conscious profile.

Step 6: Sun Protection
This step is only necessary to apply in the morning or during the day. We need to protect our skin from the sun’s rays and for that it is recommended that the protection be 50+ and against UVA and UVB rays.
Still, our skin needs vitamin D, which is extracted from sun exposure and processed through the skin. Sunscreens do not allow the rays to pass through and in the case of those of us who live in big cities, locked up for a long time, we also need this exposure to the open air, it is healthy. In these cases, try to avoid the most intense hours or long exposures.

Extra Tip Less&Conscious to treat pimples:
To dry out pimples, I use my own tea tree essential oil. How do I apply it? At night, a single drop on the pore and I let it act until the next day. It is a great natural anti-inflammatory and antibacterial.
Finally, I did not want to forget to mention that the most beautiful thing about my care routine is that it is a moment that I spend with myself. I look in the mirror, maybe I put on some music, I touch my skin, I massage it, I pamper it, I feel it. In this way I know myself, I do it the way I like and I take the time I think is necessary. Sounds a bit meditative, right? That is the intention. Also when we bathe, get dressed or brush our teeth, we have the option of doing it in a hurry and unconsciously or slowing down and doing it consciously. Personal care should be applied to the small details of our routine.
Until next time!
