Zero Waste Home: “Simple Recipes for a More Sustainable Home”

Here we share four super simple recipes that you can put into practice at home to generate less waste in the kitchen and reduce the chemicals with which we clean our home.

Solid Deodorant

Ingredients

Cornstarch.
Coconut oil.
Sodium bicarbonate.
A few drops of the essential oil of your preference.

Elaboration

Add a tablespoon of each part (less essential oil) where you want to store your deodorant
First the cornstarch, then the bicarbonate and lastly the coconut oil.
Coconut oil is preferably liquid, so if yours, due to the cold, has a solid consistency, transfer it to a bain-marie.
We mix everything until there are no lumps.
We add a few drops of our favorite essential oil.

And done!

Toothpaste

Ingredients

2 to 4 tablespoons of baking soda.
4 tablespoons of coconut oil.
1⁄2 or 1 tablespoon of stevia (optional).
20 drops of peppermint essential oil.
Small glass jar.

Elaboration

We add the coconut oil in a jar, if it is solid, it will have to be passed through a water bath.
Then we add the rest of the ingredients and mix it well.
It depends on whether we want it to be more or less liquid, we must put it inside or outside the fridge since coconut oil solidifies below 25 degrees.

And done!

We always recommend using the same spoon to apply the paste on our brush.

Liquid Soap

Ingredients

250 ml of white vinegar
750 ml of mineral water
60 g of coarse salt
1 tablet (100g) of Glycerin
30 g of baking soda
Juice of 1 lemon

Elaboration

We pour the vinegar and water into a pot and put it to heat over medium heat.
When it comes to a boil, reduce the heat to a minimum and add the grated glycerin soap bar.
Stir with a wooden spoon and add the lemon juice, bicarbonate and salt. We stir until the ingredients dissolve and are completely integrated.
We remove from the heat and let it cool down to room temperature. Transfer the detergent liquid to a storage bottle or container for later use.

And done!
